The Netherlands Has One of Europe's Largest and Most Active Marathi Communities

The Maharashtrian community in the Netherlands is larger and more organised than many people realise. The Eindhoven Marathi Mitramandal alone has over 700 members. The Netherlands Marathi Mandal (NMM) is an active cultural organisation preserving Maharashtrian arts, language, and traditions. Maharashtra Mandal Netherlands also has a long-running presence in the Dutch Indian community.

Eindhoven draws Maharashtrian engineers and tech professionals through companies like ASML, Philips, and NXP Semiconductors. Amsterdam attracts banking, tech, and startup professionals. The Hague has an international community with Indian diplomatic and professional families. This is a community with deep roots and real numbers.

The Language Gap in Dutch Maharashtrian Households

Despite the strong community infrastructure, the language is still at risk in the next generation. Children raised in the Netherlands attend Dutch-language schools, play in Dutch and English, and live in a world where Marathi is almost entirely confined to the home.

The result is a generation of children who are culturally Maharashtrian — they know the festivals, the food, the family — but who answer in English when spoken to in Marathi. This is the gap Speak Marathi exists to close.

One-to-One Online Classes for Families in Eindhoven, Amsterdam, and Beyond

Our classes are online, one-to-one, and completely flexible. For families in Eindhoven, Amsterdam, or anywhere in the Netherlands, we offer CET afternoon slots that work after school and before dinner. Weekend morning sessions are also popular.

We start from where your child actually is. For children who understand Marathi but rarely speak it, we focus on building the speaking habit. For younger children with limited exposure, we start with a fun, conversational approach. No script, no grammar drills, no pressure.
